Air connections from Iceland to Spain are very good, with direct flights from Keflavík to 7 Spanish destinations on the mainland and the Canary Islands. Of these, 3 airlines fly directly to Madrid. Spain is one of Iceland's most important trading partners, with 56% of total foreign trade in 2022 conducted with Spain.

The city of Madrid leads in job creation in Spain, with one in four new jobs created last year. The city's working population now exceeds 3.6 million people, of whom about 260,000 are dedicated to the technology sector, accounting for 32% of the total in Spain.
