The Canadian-Icelandic Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Embassy of Canada in Iceland and Arion Bank, is hosting an international conference to discuss Canada as an exciting opportunity for Icelandic companies.
Canada will be the 2nd best country in the G20 for doing business throughout the next five years (2026-2030) (Economist Intelligence Unit, October 2025) and among the G7 countries, Canada ranks 3rd with respect to the ease of starting a business. (GEM Consortium, Global Entrepreneurship monitor – 2024/2025 Global Report, 2025)
Dr. Mélanie Raymond, Chief Economist and Director General of International Economic Relations, Global Affairs Canada is a respected economist in Canada and will discuss the economic outlooks in Canada and how she sees Canada as an exciting opportunity for Icelandic companies, offering a favourable business environment and ease of starting a business.
Hlynur Guðjónsson, former Icelandic Ambassador to Canada, reflects on past and future openings and opportunities for Icelandic businesses. Skúli Mogensen, serial entrepreneur, shares his experience of living in Canada and building a business there. The session will be moderated by Eliza Reid, author, board member of the Canada-Icelandic Chamber of Commerce and former first lady of Iceland.
Guðmundur Óskarsson, Executive Vice President Medical Affairs, Education Events & Products at Kerecis and Chair of the Board of the Canada-Icelandic Chamber of Commerce, will open the conference, and Jenny Hill, Canadian Ambassador to Iceland will deliver closing remarks.
After the formal program, guests will have the opportunity to talk to speakers, network, and enjoy light refreshments.
